Support SNAP: Schools and Education

Inspire the Next Generation of Fundraisers

Schools, nurseries, and colleges can support SNAP through charity days, non-uniform days, or student-led fundraising projects. It’s a fantastic way to teach young people about inclusion and giving back.

Fundraising Opportunities – For Schools Supporting SNAP

1. Charity of the Year

  • Nominate SNAP as your school’s chosen charity for the year. Fundraise through multiple events and embed awareness across assemblies, curriculum links, and newsletters.

2. Non-Uniform or Dress-Up Days

  • Organise a “Be You Day” or “Wear Purple for SNAP” to promote inclusivity and raise funds. Pupils donate £1 to take part.

3. Welsh Baccalaureate Community Challenge

  • Encourage pupils completing the Welsh Bacc to select SNAP as their chosen charity for their Enterprise & Employability or Community Challenge.
  • They can:
  • Plan and deliver fundraising events
  • Create marketing campaigns
  • Raise awareness through digital storytelling
  • Reflect on inclusion and impact

4. Sponsored Challenges

  • Whole-school or class-based sponsored events like:
  • Sponsored silences
  • Walks or “miles for SNAP”
  • Danceathons or skip challenges
  • Readathons or spelling bees

5. Enterprise Days

  • Pupils create products, services, or events to raise money—brilliant for linking to business and maths curriculum.
  • Ideal for KS2 and secondary students.

6. Talent Shows, Fairs & Quiz Nights

  • Host events open to families and the wider community.
  • Charge for entry or encourage donations and raffles.

7. Class Fundraising Jars or Penny Wars

  • Each class races to fill a collection jar or bucket.
  • Adds healthy competition and encourages teamwork.

8. PTA and Parent-Led Events

  • Collaborate with parent groups to host fundraising socials, discos, or car boot sales with SNAP as the beneficiary.

9. Teacher Challenges or “SLT Dares”

  • Pupils fundraise to unlock funny or daring challenges for staff (e.g. pie a teacher, dress-up day for SLT).

10. Birthday Fundraising

  • Families or classes donate to SNAP in lieu of party bags or birthday gifts—simple, personal, and meaningful.
  • Personal Benefit – Encourages students to develop empathy, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Charity Benefit – Raises both funds and awareness of additional needs in education settings.
  • Community Benefit – Helps foster a more inclusive and understanding society.
