SNAP Specialist Play

SNAP Specialist Play

The first 1,000 days of a child’s life are important for a child’s healthy growth, setting a course for physical, behavioural, social and emotional development.

SNAP is the charity for pre-school children (and families), with additional and complex needs, providing practical and creative support, empowering children to have a ‘voice’, express their needs, and to meet their potential, through the power of play.

About

Since 1993, working in collaboration with paediatricians, health and education professionals in Pembrokeshire, SNAP has ensured that children with additional and complex needs are given every opportunity to thrive.

Knowing the importance of the power of play, children we care for are supported to reach their development milestones and transition into playgroup settings.

At the same time, we help families to become optimistic and stronger, better equipped to give their child the best possible start in life.

We:

Provide play therapy sessions to enhance children’s development and enable them to become ambitious, capable learners.

Empower carers to support their children through play, whilst focussing on whole family wellbeing.

Ensure that each child can transition into the most suitable playgroup, with the support needed to ensure they reach their potential.

Grow our unique service over the long term, to reach children and families who need help to ensure their children not only survive, but thrive.

STAY • PLAY

‘I was at breaking point having endured 18 months of no sleep, constant crying, zero engagement and no-one really listening to me. I had got to a point where I didn’t want to be here anymore, because that’s what the depth of continual stress does to a person.

SNAP was the first real support my daughter was given. I remember sitting and sobbing my heart out. I knew she was safe and being cared for by people who ‘got it’.

Young children with disabilities need a one-to-one provision in a safe environment. SNAP changed all our lives’.
